I guess the whole "first post" thing is normal for blogs. I never really saw myself creating a blog or anything because I have enough shit online to waste time with but everyone in the world seems to have one now so why not join the in crowd? Also, why not focus on music since it's such a huge part of my life? Yeah, i'll be using this blog to post music like most blogs that you come across but I might also write about thoughts and feelings. I guess we'll see where this takes me. Anyway, if you happen to be in a band and you come across this and you want me to post music by your band, send me a message, some music, some info about your band, etc. and i'll more than likely be glad to put it up.
I guess this is the time to post some shit about me. Alright, here goes nothing...
I'm James Hoffer. I've lived here for the majority of my life and i've been an active part of the local music scene for years now. Some past bands include Forefront, Thred, Tri-State Killing Spree, Sentient, The Human Timebomb, Escapists, Wake Of Ruin, Dealer, and many more. I'm currently in Postcards and Seraph and I have a few other things in the works that i'll update you on later. Aside from playing music, i've spent most of my life as a huge fan of music. I was the kid who sat by the radio when I was 5 and taped songs off of the radio and sat around all day listening to these tapes. I was also the kid who pretended that a tennis racket was a guitar and i'd play air guitar along to all of my favorite records before I actually got my first real guitar in sixth grade.
Speaking of favorite records, some of my favorite of all time include these:
Quicksand - Manic Compression
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity
Nirvana - In Utero
The Get Up Kids - Four Minute Mile
Fugazi - In On The Killtaker
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People
Eisley - Room Noises
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Radiohead - The Bends
Avail - 4AM Friday
Chamberlain - The Moon, My Saddle
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
Elliott - False Cathedrals
Death Cab For Cutie - We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes
Coalesce - Give Them Rope
Inquisition - Revolution, I Think It's Called Inspiration
Lifetime - Jersey's Best Dancers
Hot Water Music - No Division
Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come
Saves The Day - Through Being Cool
Swing Kids - Discography
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
Counting Crows - Recovering The Satellites
The Cardigans - Gran Turismo
Algebra One - Earn Your Halo
Sunny Day Real Estate - LP2
Rainer Maria - Look Now, Look Again
Liz Phair - Whip-Smart
Goo Goo Dolls - Superstar Car Wash
The Sundays - Blind
The Murder City Devils - In Name And Blood
Majority Rule - Interviews With David Frost
I could spend hours adding to this list.
Well, I guess this is enough bullshit for now.
